Good things take time
But do great things happen in the blink of an eye?
Maybe it’s too early
Perhaps I don’t even know you well
Or at all
But I have your voice echoing
In my mind, creating a melody
I’d love to hear often
I have snapshots of your expressions
Lined up behind my eyes
Which come flashing by
As and when I need to see you
I feel my heart pounding
Passionately
Just at the thought of meeting you
For it is rare to find someone
Whose smile brightens your day
To share your stories with
To eat less and talk more
To talk less and just listen
Listen to you narrate tales
Of crazy exes and distant friends
Noticing how you hold your glass
Or how your eyebrows dance when you talk
You don’t judge me for who I am
Rather appreciate it
And isn’t that lovely?
How your hand finds mine
How you hug me tight
And I never want to let go
How I got familiar
With the wrinkled sheets
And cozy blankets
How the kiss
Passionate and tender
Is as beautiful
As a dancer’s twirl
Maybe it is too early
But here I am
Unaware and uncertain
Carving out a door
For you to walk in
If you’d like to stay a while
